The first twenty minutes

The first twenty minutes at your work desk will determine how the rest of the day is going to pan out. If you bring a shitstorm of personal problems first thing that morning, and allow them to infest and pool, you can be sure that cloud will not disappear in a hurry.
There are people i know, who first thing they do when they reach, is pray/meditate for about 30 seconds. No doubt tuning the world away before you get down to business, would keep you from associating and piggybacking one frustration with another. But i'm not religious. My conversations with Higher powers are in spoken language not hymn-based, very informal, and very needy. I don't know the nuances of what "Vakranthunda Mahakaaya.." means, and until i fully understand, i shall have to make do with non-empty words. And hymns were not designed to make modern day pleas to the Gods. There is no Hindu prayer for "please let my code work today". "Absolve my path of all obstacles" seems too general to be effective. So it will have to be meditation.
Focusing on a light as it moves through your system, spreading warmth and energy to its path, is something i've heard of.(can you finish a sentence with 'of'?) I guess i can try that.
Another one i've heard is close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. That definitely helps calming me down.
I shall try both for a week each, and report back.
